Todays poetry: Glorious Ruin

By Ellie

years of construction, hard work and pain
ignoring the blisters tho tears fell like rain
i tried to build something worthy of love
but what does it look like to you up above?

i take a look, what do i see
just a pile of rubble that i call me
not worthy of you, not worthy of love
will i ever gain entrance to that place up above?

what is this mystery i see unfold,
i hardly believe it, all i’ve been told
you’ve stepped down from heaven, chosen this place
to dwell in your glory, to reveal your face

you took a look, what did you see?
what made you chose, to dwell here with me?
not worthy of you, not worthy of love
but i’ve found acceptance with God up above

your holy presence, transforms these stones
you’ve called it your temple, declared it your home
and i find that i, i have become
a Glorious Ruin.

About waynem

As a Minnesota based photographer and artist I have been greatly influenced by the Upper Midwest. I focus my skills and energies on portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, architectural and fine art work. My best work comes from images first painted in my mind. I mull over a prospective image for weeks or months, seeing it from different angles and perspectives, then finally deciding what to capture. The result is images that deeply touch people's emotions and powerfully evoke memories and dreams. My images are used commercially by companies and organizations ranging from Financial Services firms, mom and pop Ice Cream shops and The Basilica of St Mary to communicate their shared vision and values. Book and magazine publishers have featured my images on their covers. My photographs also grace and enhance the decor of many fine homes.

Usually, I don’t go for the emotional stuff, but i’m feeling pretty emotional today. Thanks for a gorgeous poem to meet me there. I swear, anything could make me cry! Rick is on standby…
