Teens Sex and Suicide

Rabbi Shmuley Botea is making a connection between teen sex and suicide.

"The news that more than 50 percent of American teens have had oral sex raised hardly an eyebrow"

"Less so was there any shock value in the newly released fact that 11 percent of young women reported having at least one homosexual experience."

"But there was another statistic that should have gotten parents’ attention but which was similarly ignored, namely, that there seems to be a direct link between teen sexuality and teen depression."

While 14 percent of girls who have had intercourse have attempted suicide, only 5 percent of sexually inactive girls have. And whereas 6 percent of sexually active boys have tried suicide, less than 1 percent of sexually inactive boys have. The report challenges the previously held notion that teens become sexually active in order to self-medicate their own depression.

This is astounding!  Parents, teach your children the importance of abstinace.  Enjoy the real gift at the right time!

    i’d completely agree with that, there’s definitely a link. those who are sexually active are looking for love and acceptance, and since they simply dont have the maturity to build and maintain lasting relationships at that age then they will ultimately end up splitting up with whoever they had sex with leading to feelings of rejection and so they’ll look in another relationship, and the circle goes round. it’s a vicous circle that leaves them feeling unloved and unlovable and extremely lonely. sexual intimacy involves emotions that teenagers quite simply are not ready to deal with because they still dont know who they are. (19 year old, been there, done that)
