Dominican Republic Photography
If you are traveling to the Punta Cana Dominica Republic and if you are a photographer, no doubt you may be thinking about what Punta Cana pictures you might be able to capture on your photography Adventure. My recent photographic travel adventure gave me a great opportunity to explore the local area to capture some amazing images and report back to you what is available to capture.
As you think about your trip I am guessing you are probably considering combining some rest and relaxation with some adventure so if that is true, let’s focus on what images you can right near where you are staying, at your hotel or resort.
Punta Cana is filled with many great resorts and great beaches so let’s concentrate on your resort first and then the beaches.
The Resorts
If your resort is anything like Dreams Punta Cana, the grounds and facilities are just spectacular. Many of the resorts combine both a beautiful beach and a great pool for variation and comfort.
This particular resort was a family resort so there had to be something for everyone. One incredible item is the ginormous swimming pool. It was always clean and refreshing. It is so huge that it is never full. And there activities going on for everyone from a kids area, scuba lessons, lounging, playing volleyball or swimming up to the bar.
The grounds are often as gorgeous as a park. At Dreams there are frequently weddings going on because the place is so romantic and the grounds so gorgeous.
Of course the food was to die for.
The Beaches
The east side of the Dominican Republic is on the Atlantic Ocean so while it is deep blue and gorgeous it may be a bit cooler than the bath tub water you may be familiar with of the Caribbean Ocean. At Dreams, the beaches were gorgeous but there was coral right off shore so some of the beaches were a bit rocky. So you will have to be a bit careful when you going out swimming to make sure you have found a rock free area. They had all kinds of beach activities ranging from snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, body surfing of just plain swimming and hanging out.
In my opinion, the best parts about beaches are the sunrises or sunsets. At Punta Cana you are on the east side of the island so you will have to ready to get up early to capture some amazing sunrises. During the time we were there early was only 6:30am so that was not bad at all.
If you don’t want to get up early you can just enjoy the beach for a vigorous run or a nice romantic walk. They really are quite amazing.

An Outback Adventure - The Countryside
Whenever I visit any country I always want to get a sense of how the locals live. From the resort I could see some mountains and I want to explore that region. We found a tour that ventured inland and they seemed to do just exactly what we were looking for. We found Outback Adventures of the Dominican Republic http://www.outbackadventuresdr.com/. They specialize in sustainable tourism, what that means is that they support the local community with their tours. In this case they brought us out to local family businesses to show us what they were producing and then we would have an opportunity to see how they work and support their business by buying directly from the producers.

They support 5 local community schools by helping to supply uniforms and textbooks. They did not allow the children to beg from us because they want to children to learn and work.
Our guide Ruddy was so wonderful both informing us and keeping mood light all day long.
As you can see there are plenty of great opportunities for amazing pictures in the beautiful country of The Dominican Republic. The real trick is to get up and get out and enjoy the adventure.
Please let me know if this post was helpful to you. Also please post some of your great images from the DR here so that we can all enjoy them. Have a fantastic trip.
