Walk. Life is a walk of a certain amount of time. For some it is a long walk, while for others it may be a walk of a few years. For some, it may be over before it even gets started.
Do you walk alone? If so, you have turned your back on the One who would have been glad to have walked with you. Now I don’t really think anyone walks alone; they just walk with that "other fellow." Those are the people that never read a few lines.
Let me give you those few lines, and I will try to tell you what I think the words mean.
Psalm 23
The Lord is my Shepherd.
That means He is going to look out for me. If I stay and don’t stray, I will be looked after, and taken care of in my times of need. The wolf may come, but He will drive the wolf away.
I shall not want.
My Shepherd will see to my needs. I may not have much, but I will have enough. I will get by somehow, some way.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures.
He will give me a place and comfort. Again it may not be more than just a poor place, but it will meet my needs.
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
Away from the troubles of the times. There may be wars, there may be storms, but He will see me through those. For some, my Shepherd may say come home, your work here is over. Come to the peace and quite of the still waters, where I can read His book of books, slowly, and understand what is written.
He restoreth my soul.
He will refresh the soul. Read and study His word, the soul will be refreshed with hope in good times, and bad times.
He leadeth me in the paths of rightousness for his name’s sake.
He will guide me through this life if I will but follow. There will be other paths, but His path will someday take me home. And in His name alone, I will be welcomed home.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.
Valley of death.. HELL is the valley of death. If one strays on their own and takes to following that "other fellow," that path leads to the valley of death.
I will fear no evil.
Stay on the path, and follow the good Shepherd. He will guide one through the tough times of life. Never fear, follow the course and stay the course. Don’t take a side trip because of the lies that will come from the mouth of that "other fellow." There is nothing the evil one can do, because my Shepherd will defend me.
For thou art with me.
He walks and talks to me, if only I will look and hear.
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
That would be the guiding words of His Book of Books… The Bible.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.
Someday I will dine with Jesus at the head table. He is getting a place prepared for me.
Anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
I am most richly blessed. I may ask for many things and never get those things, but I may have been blessed not to have those things.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.
By the grace of God, I am washed in the blood of the only One that can save. He is the goodness, and by the mercy of God, I will see the table and the mansion.
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Heaven..John 14:2 The house of many Mansions — if it was not so I would have told you.
AMEN.
