Gay marriage legislation spurs social revolution or revival

Gay marriage legislation is being pushed all over this country and this year it is being pushed in Minnesota.  The good news may be that when gay marriage legislation is enacted, it finally wakens the church to be the salt and light that we are called to be.  This is what seems to be happening in Canada.  In an article in Mpls Star Trib by Katherine Kersten it states…

A proposal to preserve marriage as the union of one man and one woman in Minnesota’s Constitution is one of the biggest issues our state will face in the next legislative session.

Some people argue that same-sex marriage wouldn’t change anybody else’s marriage but merely expand the institution to provide equal rights for all.

Canada made same-sex marriage the law of the land in June. What’s happened there in recent months suggests a different story.

Bishop Frederick Henry of the Catholic Diocese of Calgary, Alberta is coming to help us wake up and take actions.  A revolution is underway.  Will the church participate?

About waynem

As a Minnesota based photographer and artist I have been greatly influenced by the Upper Midwest. I focus my skills and energies on portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, architectural and fine art work. My best work comes from images first painted in my mind. I mull over a prospective image for weeks or months, seeing it from different angles and perspectives, then finally deciding what to capture. The result is images that deeply touch people's emotions and powerfully evoke memories and dreams. My images are used commercially by companies and organizations ranging from Financial Services firms, mom and pop Ice Cream shops and The Basilica of St Mary to communicate their shared vision and values. Book and magazine publishers have featured my images on their covers. My photographs also grace and enhance the decor of many fine homes.

10 Reasons Why Gay Marriage is Wrong
    01) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.
    02) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
    03) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
    04) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.
    05) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.
    06) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.
    07) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
    08) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.
    09) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.
    10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

Well we can see you have a pretty decent sense of humor if you indeed wrote these yourself. The question is are you willing to have a discussion on the real issues at hand?
